Mbappé, who did not feature on Matchday 6, had scored four goals – including the second-fastest hat-trick in competition history – in the 4-3 defeat of Olympiacos on Matchday 5.

His first three of the campaign all came from the penalty spot, two helping Real Madrid to victory against Marseille on Matchday 1 before he opened the scoring at Kairat Almaty on Matchday 2. The France striker then struck twice from open play in the second half to seal the first hat-trick of the 2025/26 Champions League proper.

Harry Kane leads the chase with seven goals after his Matchday 7 double against Union SG. Those goals ended a run of three league phase games in which the England captain had failed to score, his other five strikes coming in Bayern's opening three matches.

One further behind are Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland and Anthony Gordon.

Osimhen scored all of his six goals between Matchdays 2 and 4, including a hat-trick against Ajax, but has not found the net in Galatasaray's last two matches.

Haaland had scored in every one of Manchester City's games before the 2-0 defeat against Leverkusen on Matchday 5. The Norwegian forward got back on track with a penalty in City's comeback victory at Real Madrid but was then unable to score as City lost at Bodø/Glimt in his home country on Matchday 7.

Gordon made a flying start to the league phase, scoring in each of Newcastle's three opening games for a total of four goals. Two games without a goal followed but the England international is now back to his consistent best, scoring on Matchdays 6 and 7.
