Europa League final format
The Europa League final follows a similar format to the UEFA Champions League final. If the score is level at the end of normal time, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played. If one of the teams scores more goals than the other during extra time, that team is declared the winner. If the score remains level after extra time, the winner is determined by a penalty shoot-out.
Who is the referee for the Europa League final?
István Kovács of Romania will officiate the game. This will be his second UEFA club competition final as a referee, having also taken charge of the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League showpiece between Roma and Feyenoord in Tirana. The full refereeing team can be found here.
Where will the other 2024 finals be held?
2024 Women's Champions League final: San Mamés Stadium, Bilbao, Spain
2024 Europa Conference League final: Agia Sofia Stadium, Athens, Greece
2024 Champions League final: Wembley Stadium, London, United Kingdom
What do the winners get?
The UEFA Europa League trophy is, at 15kg, the heaviest piece of UEFA silverware. To make things extra interesting, it also has no handles.
The 2023/24 winners also gain a place in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League group stage, if they have not qualified via their domestic competition.
